Fall For Y'all

We had a perfect fall in western Virginia this year, as beautiful as I can remember.  It occurred to me that not everyone in our family got to enjoy this special time of year.  I have tried to capture some of it thru the camera for Andrew and Jorge and Kathy.  And others in exile.

"Where Have You Been, My Blue Eyed Son"

" And what did you see, my warped young one?" Well, here are a few recent sightings from around my adjusted little world.  Did you know that George Washington liked chicken?  He was a fan of wings and ate them with his wooden dentures.  In this episode, the chicken gets even.

Puddle Dance

And you thought your weekend was fun.  I appreciate the parenting skills shown in these shots from a festival in the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan.

Georgia On My Mind..

in February at least.  With high temperatures in the mid 60's, beaches, golf, tennis, and biking I'm thinking about going south to the Georgia coast and Jekyll Island this winter.  I checked out the lay of the land last month and found it to be Pageable (laid back, interesting, and reasonably cheap).  All we need is family and friends.

I Could Be Wrong

......but these posts seem to me to represent what I am trying to do in photography......showing a new way to see things around us.  These are from an old Tabby house on Jekyll Island that people drive by and look at everyday without really seeing or appreciating.  Tabby is a mixture of lime, sand, water, and shells that was used for building walls in the low country of SC and Georgia in place of bricks and wood.  These colors, patterns, contrasts, and light are what make photography for me.

Up The Creek With Stevie Y

We did some hiking in Upstate NY this summer with our friends Jane and Stevie Y.  There is a State Park near Ithaca named Buttermilk Falls (although in mid summer there isn't much water to fall).  But the creek was still beautiful as it wandered through the limestone cuts and formed patterns and reflections.  The flutterbee is from my yard at the end of summer. That's Steve in the last shot..... up the creek.

What Did You Do This Summer?

Nothing.  Just hung out around the house.  But still you see some fantastically ordinary things and people here in Salem.  Here are some of the ordinary people that found there way to my lens the last 2 months.  Wonder what they were thinking and doing, especially that guy driving the black Chevy pickup.  Probably thinking about a beer and wishing football would start.
